Son of João Baptista da Silva and Alice Maria do Carmo. .

Born in in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil in 1892, the first year of the term of Presidente Floriano Peixoto, and died aged twenty-two in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil in the year Presidente Venceslau Brás assumed the Presidency.

João Baptista da Silva, the male heir, died suddenly of tetanus aged 22.

Hélcio Pereira da Silva wrote:
My grandmother lost her only son. She was so distraught that she threw herself out of the window. Her son-in-law Gastão, who was at the time a dental surgeon, did what he could, but she was permanently disfigured.
